It’s our great pleasure to announce that two CCDS RAs (Jahir Sadik Monon and Rakibul Hasan Rajib) got US visa for their fully funded PHD admissions in University of Massachusetts Amherst and University of Central Florida, respectively. Congratulation to Jahir Sadik Monon and Rakibul Hasan Rajib.
Monon
Monon is joining – University of Massachusetts Amherst. Department – Manning College of Information & Computer Sciences (CICS). He is initially joining the Dynamic and Autonomous Robotic Systems (DARoS) Laboratory, led by Professor Donghyun Kim. Their research is mostly on creating robotic systems for common goods like guide robot dog for blind people, humanoid robots, etc. His responsibilities will be in finding robot learning/reinforcement learning based solutions.
Other places he got into this fall – University of Illinois Chicago, Texas A&M, Rice University (he chose UMass). Among these, UMass has the best CS program and it is the birthplace of Reinforcement Learning so he is quite excited to start there.

Rajib

Rajib is joining – University of Central Florida.
Department – College of Engineering and Computer Science.
He is joining the research group led by Professor Qian Lou, an Assistant Professor of Computer Science and a member of the Cybersecurity and Privacy Cluster at UCF. His research lies at the intersection of machine learning, data privacy, and security, with a specific focus on unlocking the potential of sensitive data to advance AI while preserving privacy. The group works on topics such as federated learning, differential privacy, homomorphic encryption, and secure multi-party computation.
His responsibilities will center on developing private and efficient federated learning algorithms, with an emphasis on leveraging encrypted gradients to strengthen security in distributed training environments. This work aims to ensure robust privacy guarantees while maintaining the performance and scalability of learning systems. Rajib is an IUB CSE alumni.
